Most events that require morning wear are during the warmer months of the year.
Morning Coat with Plain Flannel Trousers & Topcoat
Should you nevertheless be in a position where an overcoat or topcoat is required, a Paletot or a Chesterfield in black or charcoal will be your ideal companion.
Scarves
In case you also need a scarf, plain white silk is the most elegant choice but other patterns may work as well but don’t combine it with a casual scarf such as a woven scarf.

I was wondering, wouldn’t an overfrock/frock overcoat be the most appropriate with morning dress? Or at least worth the mention?
John, the frock coat is worn instead of a morning coat, not on top of it. I plan to add an entire section about the frock coat in the future if I have more time.
